KUCHING: A political observer says the frequent visits to Sarawak by the King, Prime Minister and federal senior ministers are proof of their admiration for the peace, stability and unity in the state.

“Their visits indicate that they are honestly fond of Sarawak and perhaps feeling concerned and wanting to ‘help out on something’,” said Datuk Peter Minos.

He noted Sarawakians are happy with and grateful to their visits, especially by the Agong and Prime Minister Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I can also say that when the Agong came by, he must have had thought well of Sarawak and its people.

“Maybe he is admires the unity and harmony among Sarawakians. We in Sarawak feel happy and grateful for their concern and kind thoughts,” he said.

He noted Anwar too was happy with his visit to Sarawak, admiring its political stability, which Minos said Anwar “deep inside, he would have wished there was political peace in the peninsula too”.

“As we all know, politics on the other side is in a mess where everything becomes a contentious issue.

“Political parties and personalities knock and hammer each other almost endlessly. It is a mad house over there.

“A dark political jungle. I think Anwar is very much at home and happy in Sarawak than in the peninsula,” he said.

Minos noted that their visits indicate that of all places in Malaysia, Sarawak stands out as the most stable and peaceful.

“There is real and natural understanding as well as mutual respect among the people of many races, religions and cultures.

“Thanks must be accorded to our top Sarawak leaders who can and do handle things with wisdom, sagacity and intelligence.

“At the present rate and situation, the future of Sarawak and its people is shining bright, one that which we cannot honestly say the same about the peninsula,” he added.
