
KUCHING: China has formed alliances between its medical universities and those in Asian countries with the purpose of enhancing both medical and scientific researches and collaborations.
Xiong Si Dong, president of Soochow University, one of the top universities in China, and his team recently visited universities in Kuching and Kuala Lumpur to discuss future collaborations.
Members of Soochow University led by Xiong recently called on Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian here to discuss with him their future Belt & Road international joint education and research programmes in Sarawak.
On the same day, Xiong and his entourage also visited Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) to talk about collaborations and academic skills and information technology sharing. There were also talks about the possibility of Unimas’ students applying for the Belt & Road scholarships.
After that, the Soochow University team visited NIIT College, one of the top colleges here. Managing director of NIIT College Anderson Voon explained in details regarding the college’s diploma and degree programmes.
Members of Tanjungpura University in Kalimantan, Indonesia also met Soochow University team in Kuching.
The Soochow team visited Universiti Malaya (MU) as well to explore opportunities for collaborations and promote the benefits of the Belt & Road scholarships.
