MIRI: The SOP Foundation, the charitable arm of Sarawak Oil Palms Group (SOP), has made a lasting impact in the Sungai Asap areas by providing corrective eyewear to 128 residents from Uma Sambop, Batu Pilau, and Long Nanyan.
The handover, held on Tuesday (Dec 17), marked the culmination of a comprehensive health and vision care initiative launched earlier this year.
The project began with eye and health screenings on Oct 8, conducted at Uma Sambop. Delivered in collaboration with Klinik Kesihatan Sungai Asap and Spec Shop Sdn Bhd, the programme offered essential health check-ups, eye care services, and bespoke spectacles to participants, with all costs fully covered by SOP Foundation.
Jimbau Tumbai, plantation controller and representative of SOP Foundation, highlighted the organisation’s dedication to enhancing community welfare, particularly in rural areas.

The Vision Care Project has made significant strides in reducing the risk of preventable blindness and improving the lives of participants. By addressing vision-related challenges, the programme empowers residents to lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
