SIBU: The Public Services Commission (SPA) is planning to establish another interview centre in Limbang, provided there are sufficient job applicants to justify it.
According to its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, there are currently three interview centres in Sarawak, with a fourth in the planning stages.
“There are 17 interview centres across the country. Sarawak, being the largest state in Malaysia with an area of 124,450 square kilometres, has three centres — one each in Kuching, Sibu, and Miri — compared to just one in other states,” he said.
Ahmad said this at the opening of the new SPA Sibu Centre at UTC here today (Jan 20).
The Sibu centre had been operating for 12 years at Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai before relocating to UTC.
On the centre, he said it can accommodate up to 200 people at a time.
“The SPA Sibu Interview Centre serves as a One-Stop Centre (OSC), offering more than just interview facilities.
“It provides services such as computer and internet access for the Public Service Entry Assessment (PSEE) – Psychometric Testing, consultation on SPA9 applications, and various other services.
“This initiative ensures that candidate processes are handled more efficiently, saving time and costs, particularly for those travelling from Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, and Kapit divisions,” he added.
Ahmad also highlighted that the Sibu Interview Centre is the eighth in the country to operate within a UTC building.
“The other centres are located in Perak, Penang, Perlis, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Kuching and Miri,” he said.
