KUALA LUMPUR: The special financial assistance (BKK) of RM1,200 for full-time degree and diploma students will be continued next year, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said that before the full implementation of the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES), he had announced during the previous Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak event that the Sarawak Government would provide financial aid of RM1,200 to all students enrolled in public universities, with disbursement made through S PAY Global e-wallet.
“The pocket money will continue next year, and I will make an official announcement during the state budget presentation next month. That’s not all, there’s something more, but I’ll keep it a surprise for now. You’ll hear about it in November,” he said.
Abang Johari said this during a townhall session held in conjunction with ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025’ at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), here today.

The scheme, launched this year, is expected to benefit students, regardless of their economic background.
The funds will be distributed in two installments of RM600 per semester, credited directly into students’ S PAY Global accounts throughout their study period.
At the launch of BKK back in July, Abang Johari said the Sarawak Government has allocated nearly RM50.4 million, benefitting some 41,000 students under the initiative.
