KUCHING: Negotiations on the formula for the Special Grant under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution, through the Technical Committee Meeting on the Malaysia 1963 Agreement (MA63), are expected to take place soon, ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said the meeting is important for detailing and refining the proposed formula that has been submitted to the federal government.
“God-willing, this matter will be discussed in the meeting in a few weeks.
“The original date had been set but was postponed, and it is now expected to be held this month before Hari Raya,” she was quoted as saying in an UKAS report after officiating the Sukma Ria Ramadan Bazaar held here recently.
Sharifah Hasidah emphasised that, so far, no final decision has been made regarding the formula submitted to the federal government for determining grants under Article 112D.
Previously, the Sarawak Government has proposed a formula to return 20 per cent of the total revenue or taxes collected from Sarawak to ensure a fairer and more flexible distribution.
