KUCHING: The Bank Rakyat Foundation (YBR), in collaboration with the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), is offering special sponsorship to participants from Sarawak and Sabah enrolled in the Basic Entrepreneurship Training programme this year.

In a statement from YBR, these participants would only be required to pay a registration fee of RM50 and the initiative aimed to attract 1,200 new and existing entrepreneurs in both states.

The programme was officially announced by the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, Datuk Ewon Benedick, at the Dato’ Syahbandar Makang Kuala Penyu Hall, Sabah, as part of the Kukun Madani Carnival and Showcase One District One Industry (SDSI), held during the Kaamatan Festival recently.

The event was attended by Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang, chairman of the Foundation; Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani, general manager; and Mohd Mukhti Abd Rahman, Head of Operations Division.

“Participants will receive training in basic business skills and gain exposure to effective marketing strategies for their products,” said Ewon.

Echoing Ewon’s sentiments, Philip described the programme as a vital platform for participants to engage with the business world, whether they are new to business or looking to expand their existing operations.

“This Entrepreneurship Training Program aligns with the Foundation’s goals to provide training and self-development opportunities that enhance individual skills through entrepreneurship,” said Philip.

He also noted that entrepreneurs in Sarawak and Sabah are producing local products but often lack sufficient marketing exposure.

“We expect this program to equip budding and potential entrepreneurs with essential knowledge and skills in product marketing, thereby improving the socioeconomics of the community in line with the foundation’s goal of creating career opportunities,” he added.
