MUKAH: The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results serve as a benchmark for every student in determining their future.

Tellian assemblyman, Royston Valentine, noted that once students receive their SPM results, it is up to them to choose their path.

“Generally, there are two options – to pursue skills training or academic studies.

“Nowadays, we can see that skills are not just an option, but a target for students to continue their interests,” he said.

Royston made these remarks when approached by reporters during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Gathering and Customer Day of the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund (TBS) Mukah Division, held at Dewan Seri Pekala, Kampung Kuala Lama, here on Thursday.

He added that students who have received their SPM results should continue seeking knowledge.

He stressed that knowledge is crucial in determining the future of an individual, the state, and the country.

In line with this, he also shared about various programmes under the Mukah Education Bureau.

“Many initiatives have been implemented to help improve the academic performance of students in Mukah.

“Among them are free tuition classes conducted throughout the year and incentives given to students to motivate them to study harder and achieve good exam results.

“In addition, we also provide other forms of assistance such as talent development programmes and meals during examinations.”

Touching on the meals provided, Royston explained that it offers students more time to revise their lessons before entering the exam hall.

With this aid, students do not need to return home just to eat, thus reducing their movement and allowing them more time to review their subjects at the last minute.

Royston added that many more programmes are organised under the Mukah Education Bureau, and every year it is hoped that students and teachers will continue striving to achieve excellence.
