BALAI RINGIN: Two new projects have been proposed to transform Balai Ringin into a future sports hub.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the proposals involve the construction of a youth development centre and a motor racing circuit on available open land near the Balai Ringin Sports Complex.

He said the sports complex, which was completed at a cost of RM15 million and has been in use by the local community since June last year, still has surrounding vacant land.

“After assessing the benefits that can be derived from the available land, I have proposed building a youth development centre and a racing circuit to position Balai Ringin as a sports hub,” he said when officiating the closing ceremony of the Gawai Dayak Balai Ringin Arts and Culture Day 2026 at the Balai Ringin Sports Complex Hall recently.

Meanwhile, Snowdan, who is also Balai Ringin assemblyman, said that the RM55 million new Balai Ringin Market project is set to be tendered this year, with construction expected to take two years.

He said the project will include 40 stalls managed by the Serian District Council, a riverside park, children’s playground, rest areas, and bus parking facilities.

He expressed confidence that the project will transform the development landscape of Balai Ringin and further boost economic and social growth for the local community in the future.
