KUCHING: In the spirit of the Harvest (Keaamatan) and Gawai celebrations, Sports Toto Malaysia (STM Lottery) Sdn Bhd has brought joy and relief to underprivileged communities across Sabah and Sarawak through its annual Sports Toto Harvest & Gawai Donation Drive 2025.

Held from May 20 to 23, the initiative saw a total contribution of approximately RM43,000 distributed among seven charity homes and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in both states.

Each beneficiary received RM3,500 in cash and RM1,500 in shopping vouchers, aimed at supporting daily operations and covering essential needs such as food and basic supplies.

In addition, every child or adult living in the selected homes or attending the NGOs’ programmes were gifted a RM30 festive ang pow, a traditional token symbolising goodwill and celebration.

The donations were personally delivered by STM Lottery staff, who spent time engaging with the residents during their visits, fostering a sense of inclusion and warmth during the festive season.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with the communities in Sabah and Sarawak during this meaningful festive season.

“Through the Sports Toto Harvest & Gawai Donation Drive 2025, we hoped to share the spirit of Harvest and Gawai with those who need it most, offering them not just financial support but also a sense of inclusion and celebration,” said Giam Say Khoon, the general manager of Communications & Sustainability at STM Lottery.

Giam added that their efforts formed part of the company’s broader commitment to its corporate social responsibility, aiming to create lasting, positive impacts throughout Malaysia.

“Our visits remind us of the importance of compassion, cultural respect, and unity across all corners of Malaysia,” he said.

The annual donation drive is one of many initiatives under STM Lottery’s Helping Hands banner, which reflects its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values.

The company’s ongoing programmes focus on education, welfare, environmental conservation, sports, and community outreach, and these initiatives stand as a testament to the company’s dedication to uplifting lives, particularly during significant cultural celebrations like the Harvest and Gawai festivals.
