KUCHING: Women are making significant strides in Malaysia’s logistics industry, with SPX Express (SPX) leading the charge in fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce where talent and dedication define success.
According to its statement, from managing last-mile hubs to ensuring workplace safety and even driving lorries, SPX is committed to providing equal opportunities for women to excel in logistics.
“The company actively supports female participation in logistics through structured training, career progression, and a supportive work environment,” it said.
SPX Express Head Cheah Lee Sun emphasised that hiring, retaining and promoting women is not just about representation but about strengthening the industry as a whole.
“At SPX, we believe in empowering individuals at every level of logistics, from operations to compliance and frontline delivery.
“We are actively ensuring that opportunities are open to everyone through structured training, career progression, and a supportive work environment,” she said.
Since 2021, she noted that SPX has seen a steady rise in female participation across the industry.
The proportion of women couriers more than doubled from last year to 29 per cent, while female sorters have increased by 10 per cent over the same period.
She pointed out that more women are also stepping into leadership roles, such as hub leads, shift supervisors, and area managers.
“The company champions internal promotions, ensuring that all employees, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities for career growth through structured training programs and mentorship initiatives,” she said.
Cheah affirmed that SPX’s commitment to diversity is about creating meaningful impact.
“Our workforce is built on skill, dedication, and teamwork.
“Women at SPX are thriving in leadership, technical and operational roles, working alongside their peers to drive innovation in logistics.
“By fostering an environment where everyone can excel, SPX continues to set new benchmarks for inclusivity, ensuring that the best talent continues to shape the future of logistics,” she said.
