SUBIS: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki conducted a working visit to the Subis District Office on Monday (Jan 26) to review administrative operations and engage directly with staff on issues affecting service delivery and workplace welfare.

The programme began with a visit to the proposed construction site for staff quarters located adjacent to the Subis District Office, followed by a symbolic tree-planting activity aimed at promoting a greener and more sustainable work environment.

He later toured the office building before attending a dialogue session with officers and staff.

The session opened with a presentation by the Subis District Officer on current challenges, including staff welfare, facilities and support requirements to improve administrative efficiency.

During the visit, a symbolic handover of the Subis District Office building from the Public Works Department was also held, signifying the readiness of the facility for full operational use.

Key issues discussed included the need for a more conducive work environment, staff housing shortages particularly the construction of new quarters, as well as matters related to career development and service progression in the public sector.

Mohamad Abu Bakar emphasised the importance of continuous improvement through the practice of rethink, revisit and recharge as a basis for strengthening organisational effectiveness.

He also stressed the need for comprehensive implementation of the Rural Transformation Project and Minor Rural Project to ensure tangible benefits for the people.

He further encouraged a strong teamwork culture to avoid silo-based practices, while urging officers to enhance their capabilities, prioritise health and well-being, and seize career development opportunities.

Officers who have served at the same station for more than five years were also encouraged to consider transfers to gain broader exposure and new professional challenges.

The working visit is expected to strengthen district governance and improve staff welfare, in line with Sarawak’s aspiration for a progressive and people-oriented civil service.
