LIMBANG: The Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) Phase 2 project currently underway in the Ulu Limbang area is expected to transform the living landscape of rural communities by providing safer and more efficient road access.

Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said the construction of strategic road networks such as SSLR Phase 2 will have a significant impact on the interior population.

“When the SSLR Phase 2 project is completed, it will provide better road access and reduce travel time compared to the existing gravel roads or river routes, which are high-risk, especially during the rainy season,” he said during a working visit to the project site here recently.

He added that the interior region of Ulu Limbang, rich in natural beauty and ethnic heritage, has high potential to be developed as an ecotourism destination, in line with Sarawak’s sustainable development goals.

Hasbi, who is also Limbang MP, said that the previously delayed construction project of the Ulu Tubai Road to Mentawai/Gunung Buda will be continued by a new contractor.
