KUCHING: Three students from St Joseph’s International School (SJIS) Kuching have earned international recognition for academic excellence in the November 2024 Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examination series.

The school in a press release said Jeslyn Ting Jie was awarded ‘Top in the World’ for Business Studies and ‘Top in Malaysia’ for Geography, while Hii Mao Xing also secured a ‘Top in the World’ title for Mathematics.

Another student, Chan Xhin Yuan, received ‘Top in Malaysia’ for Art and Design.

They were among the recipients of the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, which honour the highest-performing students across more than 130 countries.

SJIS said that over 111,000 students worldwide sat for the exam series.

All three awardees received their honours during the Cambridge Awards Ceremony held in Selangor.

SJIS Principal, Robert Teoh, said the students’ achievements reflect not only academic brilliance but also the school’s values.

“We wish all the very best to these students, and congratulate them on their effort.

“They not only inspire their peers to academic success but they also exemplify the true Josephian spirit of dedication and excellence,” he said.

He added that the school remains committed to providing a strong academic foundation through the globally recognised Cambridge IGCSE curriculum.

SJIS has consistently produced award-winning students, reinforcing its standing as a leading institution for international academic programmes in Sarawak.
