LAWAS: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan announced that the construction of a new airport here will proceed in phases.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Bukit Sari assemblyman, said that the project requires several preparatory steps, including the relocation of graves and land acquisition.
“The airport project will be implemented in stages. The first phase involving land and road works will be implemented this year, and after that, we will continue on until the construction is complete,” he said during the Tahlil and Thanksgiving ceremony recently.
He further confirmed that land acquisition has been completed and compensation has been provided to the affected parties.
“Land acquisition work has been done and compensation has been given to those concerned,” he added.
The ceremony also included congregational Maghrib prayers, tahlil readings, congregational Isyak prayers, and a communal feast with local residents.
