KUCHING: The Sarawak Government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly in ensuring inclusive and comprehensive development across the state.
State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, said this year’s budget reflects that commitment, with nearly RM16 billion allocated for development purposes.
“No other government is as dedicated as Sarawak in addressing the people’s needs, with the clear aim of improving lives through the implementation of road and bridge construction, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects that drive the state’s progress,” he said.
He made the remarks during the Jiwa @ Komuniti MADANI programme held in conjunction with the MADANI Community Celebration for Kampung Sungai Laru at a hotel here recently.

Asfia also highlighted that the Sarawak Government is equally attentive to matters of religion and culture, citing the state’s policy of allowing Christians to use the word ‘Allah’ as evidence of its inclusive stance.
While Islam is the official religion in Sarawak, he said, followers of other faiths are free to practise their religions without restriction.
He added that Sarawak’s harmony is something to be proud of and must be protected by all who call the state home.
Asfia further stressed that the state government treats all ethnic groups equally, without favouritism, in order to strengthen racial unity and preserve intercommunal harmony.
