KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has reiterated its ongoing commitment to enhancing governance, integrity and a culture of high performance in the forest-based and timber industry, in alignment with the goals of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said the achievements attained by the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) demonstrate the organisation’s capability to remain relevant, progressive and competitive, in tandem with the Sarawak Government’s agenda to enhance governance and service delivery quality.
“An inclusive and forward-looking leadership approach has enabled STIDC to continue making a positive impact on stakeholders, particularly in supporting the state’s economic development through sustainable forest resource management,” he said.

He said this in his text speech read by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, at the ‘STIDC Jasamu Dikenang 2026’ Dinner at the Grand Margherita Hotel here on Saturday (Jan 31).
Awang Tengah, who is also the Chairman of the STIDC Board of Management, extended his highest congratulations on STIDC’s success in obtaining the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification and emerging as the sole recipient of the Gold Award (Public Sector) at the Integrity, Governance and Anti-Corruption Awards 2025.
He said that the recognition was not merely an organisational achievement, but also reflected the strong commitment of STIDC’s workforce in upholding integrity, accountability, and a high-performance work culture.
Meanwhile, he said the presentation of the 2024 Excellent Service Awards (APC) at the event was a manifestation of appreciation for the outstanding performance, professionalism and continuous commitment of STIDC officers and staff.
“Behind these achievements are many ‘unsung heroes’ who form the backbone of the organisation. It is this collective contribution that ensures STIDC continues to play a vital role in supporting Sarawak’s sustainable economic growth,” he said.
He also emphasised the need to align the timber industry sector with PCDS 2030, which calls for consistent and effective policy implementation, including an emphasis on quality investments, development of high value-added industries, and compliance with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.
In this regard, he called on STIDC to continue playing a proactive role as a leading agency in driving the transformation of the timber industry towards greater sustainability, innovation and global competitiveness, in line with the direction of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) for Sarawak.
The event was also held to honour the service and contributions of retired STIDC personnel, as well as to recognise officers and staff who demonstrated excellent performance throughout the past year.
