MIRI: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki recently visited the proposed relocation site for landslide victims in Tudan Phase 5 to ensure that safety and site suitability are prioritised.

According to him, the state government will conduct a comprehensive assessment of technical requirements including retaining wall construction to ensure the safety of the site prior to implementation.

“I was informed by the Miri Resident that they have agreed to be relocated while several improvements are being made to the site.

“The project’s concept will be discussed later, as the current visit is focused on inspecting the site following requests to build retaining walls for safer housing construction,” he said in an UKAS report during the site visit.

He stressed that a comprehensive approach involving various technical agencies would be strengthened to ensure the resettlement is implemented in a systematic and sustainable manner.

The visit reflects the state government’s commitment to coordinating the implementation of a resettlement housing project involving 15 heads of households (KIR) affected by the landslide incident at Kampung Lereng Bukit last year.
