TODAY, Sarawak celebrates more than just its history. We are celebrating who we are and who we are becoming.
The state stands tall, proud of its heritage, united in its diversity and ambitious for its future.
On this Sarawak Day, state leaders share a common message: a call for unity, progress and resilience.
Their hopes are clear – to see Sarawak become a developed, inclusive and digitally driven state while preserving its unique identity and cultural roots.

Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah
“On this Sarawak Day, let us reflect with pride on our journey and renew our commitment to unity, inclusive development and the well-being of our people.
Our diversity is our strength, and our future depends on how we nurture and empower every Sarawakian — from the youngest child to our elderly. Together, let us build a Sarawak that is united, progressive and compassionate.”

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan
“Sarawak is blessed with rich natural resources, a stable climate and freedom from extreme weather – all of which support our transformation into a developed state by 2030, with bold infrastructure and sustainable growth.
Most importantly, Sarawak is a unique example of true unity among its multicultural and multireligious composition.
A high degree of tolerance and understanding have not only been the trademark but also as benchmark on how true tolerance shall be depicted in policies and public practices.
We aspire not only for economic progress but to grow morally, spiritually and as a people – ready to stand tall among the world’s great nations.”

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi
“I envision a Sarawak that not only thrives on its natural wealth but also leads in digital innovation, green economy, and inclusive infrastructure.
Our development must be people-focused, bridging the urban-rural divide and celebrating our strength in diversity.
My hope is for a Sarawak where citizens are economically empowered, emotionally fulfilled and socially protected – with mental health, elder care, women’s empowerment and youth development at the core.
Sarawak Day is more than a celebration of our past; it’s a call to shape our future with unity, compassion and wisdom – for a Sarawak where everyone feels safe, valued and hopeful.“

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Local Government) Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil
“Sarawak Day is a day every Sarawakian should be proud of – it marks our freedom from British rule.
My hope is for us to move forward together in unity, strength and progress, with political stability and stronger socio-economic standing.
We aim to reclaim our lost rights – including autonomy in education, public health and control over our natural resources like oil, gas and continental shelves.
Our vision is for a peaceful, united and progressive Sarawak within Malaysia and a prosperous, developed state by 2030.”

Opar Assemblyman, Billy Sujang
“As we celebrate this meaningful day, my hope is for Sarawak to keep moving forward with inclusive growth, strong unity, and better quality of life for all.
I hope we continue nurturing mutual respect and a shared identity among all Sarawakians.
Above all, I envision a Sarawak where people come first – where healthcare is accessible, livelihoods are secure, and every citizen feels safe, valued and empowered.”

Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin
“This Sarawak Day is a reminder for all Sarawakians to stand united.
Our strength lies in our unity, and it is through this unity that we can realise the goals of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) – to build a prosperous, inclusive, and progressive Sarawak by 2030.
My hope and prayer are that Sarawak will continue to thrive, stay united, and remain blessed for generations to come.”

Tasik Biru Assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep
“Sarawak has come a long way, rising from one of the poorest states to now being among the top four highest-income states in Malaysia.
This progress didn’t happen by chance – it is the result of strong leadership, stable governance, and inclusive policies that put the people first.
As we celebrate Sarawak Day, my hope is for all Sarawakians to remain united and continue supporting the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg so we can keep building a better, brighter future for everyone.“

Batu Kitang Assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang
“This Sarawak Day, we celebrate our heritage and reaffirm our pursuit of true regional autonomy within Malaysia, as agreed in 1963 with Sabah, Singapore, and Malaya.
Though Sarawak is nearly the size of Peninsular Malaysia and officially recognised as a region, we still receive the smallest federal development allocation.
A strong Dewan Undangan Sarawak (DUS) is key to protecting our rights. If Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) wins the 17 new seats, it will strengthen our hand in securing what’s rightfully ours – from oil and gas to education, healthcare, taxation, and MA63.
Let’s stay united. One Sarawak. One voice. One-third representation.”
