KUCHING: The State-level Gawai Dayak celebration will be held on June 22, 2018 with a procession showcasing the diversities of Dayak cultural grandeur. Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas yesterday led the organising committee to pay a courtesy call on Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg at the latter’s office in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building in Petra Jaya here.
During the visit, Abang Johari was briefed on the programme and significance of the celebration and was invited to officiate at the launch. Other members of the delegation included Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) James Jemut Masing, Minister of Utility, Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Assistant Minister of Local Government, Datu Penguang Manggil, Deputy State Secretary, Datu Jaul Samion and the Permanent Secretary of the Utility Ministry, Dato Alice Jawan. Later, Abang Johari received a farewell visit from the outgoing Consul General of the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching, Jahar Gultom.
