KOTA SAMARAHAN: The 64th Sarawak-level Tilawah Al-Quran Competition will be held here from Feb 24 to 27.
President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha, mentioned that the event, themed Sarawak Maju Makmur (A Prosperous and Progressive Sarawak), will be officiated by the Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, on Feb 24.
The closing ceremony will be officiated by the Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, on Feb 27.
“The champions in the Qari and Qariah categories will each receive a cash prize of RM10,000, along with a challenge trophy, an accompanying trophy, additional prizes, a certificate, and an Umrah package.
“Meanwhile, the runners-up and third-place winners in both categories will receive cash prizes of RM7,000 and RM5,000, respectively, along with a trophy, additional prizes, and a certificate,” he said.
He made these remarks at a press conference following the final meeting for the 64th Sarawak-level Tilawah and Tahfiz Al-Quran Competition for the year 1446H/2025M, at Kota Samarahan Civic Centre, on Tuesday.
Additionally, he mentioned that the champion of the Hafazan Al-Quran category will receive a cash prize of RM5,000, a trophy, additional prizes, and a certificate, while the runner-up and third-place winners will receive RM3,000 and RM2,000, respectively, along with a trophy, additional prizes, and a certificate.
