State registers drop in Covid-19 cases

KUCHING: Sarawak’s Covid-19 cases dropped with a total of 224 new cases recorded on Sunday (Apr 10), a decrease of 126 from the previous day’s 350 cases.

This takes the cumulative cases to 302,457.

In its daily update the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said, two cases each were recorded in Category 3 and 4 while three cases were recorded in Category 5.

Aside from that, a total of 102 cases were in Categories 1 and 115 in Category 2.

“Kuching topped the list with 67 cases, followed by Bintulu with 35 cases; Sibu with 30 and Miri with 29.

“Nine cases were recorded in Limbang; eight in Kota Samarahan; five each in Sri Aman, Bau and Simunjan; four in Sarikei; and three each in Serian, Lundu, Marudi and Kapit.

“Two cases each were recorded in Asajaya, Kabong, Kanowit and Dalat; and one case each was recorded in Mukah, Pusa, Saratok, Tebedu, Subis, Beluru and Meradong,” he said.

SDMC also disclosed that there were five COVID-19 fatalities, three of whom were brought in dead (BID).

On Mar 17, a 62-year-old woman without any history of disease, was brought in dead to Saratok Hospital.

Two days later (Mar 19), a 77-year-old man who had high blood pressure and kidney disease, was also brought in dead to the same hospital.

Later, on Mar 24, Saratok Hospital received another BID case involving a 78-year-old woman who had high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidaemia.

On Apr 7, a 71-year-old man who had high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease, passed away in Sri Aman Hospital.

The next day (Apr 8), a 61-year-old man who had high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidaemia, passed away in Sibu Hospital.

In terms of non-compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs), Kuching police also issued compound notices to seven individuals for failing to register the MySejahtera before entering a premises.

This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,807.
