KUCHING: State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, paid his last respects on the late Major (rtd) Micheal Riman Bugat at the Kuching Civic Centre Tuesday evening.

According to the official social media of the First Infantry Division, Riman, aged 71, who was a recipient of the country’s highest gallantry award, Panglima Gagah Berani (PGB), breathed his last at 9 am Tuesday at the Sarawak General Hospital.

His remains were placed at the Kuching Civic Centre for two days to receive final respects from family and friends before burial on Thursday at the Kuching Heroes’ Mausoleum.

The late Riman, who hailed from Saribas, was awarded the PGB on June 6, 1984, for his bravery in counter insurgencies against the communist terrorists on October 9, 1976, in Kampung Serangan, Lundu, Sarawak, and on December 26, 1977, in Gopeng, Perak.
