KUCHING: Sarawak aims to have five data centres that will create further economic growth for the state through cross-border data flow by 2030.
In pointing out that data centres are the engine of the digital revolution, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said currently, Sarawak has a Tier IV data centre, which is also a carrier-neutral and a certified green facility data centre.
“I believe that Sarawak is a supreme location for investment in data centres. This is because we have the space and more importantly, we have the ability to supply reliable, sustainable energy to fuel these data centres,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the International Business Review (IBR) Borneo Awards 2023 here on Friday (Nov 3).
Also present during the event were Dewan Negara President Senator Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Puan Sri Fauziah Sanusi; Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan; Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr. Hazland Abang Hipni; Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee; and IBR Asia Group chief executive officer Datuk Beatrice Nirmala
