PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak government is enhancing welfare services and social wellbeing through closer collaboration with the Federal Government to ensure more coordinated and effective assistance to the people.
In this regard, the state government delegation led by Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel paid a courtesy call on the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), Datuk Dr Maziah Che Yusoff, here yesterday (March 2) as part of efforts to reinforce institutional ties between both parties.
The visit served as an important platform to discuss initiatives to enhance synergy between the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKM) and KPWKM, particularly in improving the effectiveness of welfare service delivery to target groups throughout the state.
During the discussion, both sides also examined aspects of policy coordination, governance strengthening and human resource management, including the sharing of best practices in implementing welfare programmes at both state and federal levels, to ensure that assistance provided is more comprehensive, inclusive and responsive to the current needs of the people.
Through a more structured framework of cooperation, a shared commitment was expressed to ensure that the social development agenda can be implemented more effectively and sustainably, in line with the aspirations for the wellbeing of the people at both the state and national levels.
