OYA: The Sarawak government has unveiled plans to build a new Dalat District Office to create a more conducive workplace and support smoother, more efficient district administration.

Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said alongside the new administrative hub, significant attention is being directed towards support facilities, including the provision of dedicated government quarters for civil servants.

“The construction site for the government quarters in Dalat has already been identified, and we are now awaiting the commencement of works.

“God willing, these quarters will accommodate government officers serving in both Dalat and Oya, and will be available to those from the federal service as well,” he said.

He shared these updates during an official visit to the Mukah Division, specifically while visiting the Melanau Oya Heritage Gallery yesterday (Jan 16).

In another development, he highlighted the Melanau Oya Heritage Gallery as a landmark with the potential to become a premier tourist destination and an icon for the sub-district.

Following a briefing on the gallery’s operations and development, he said it was evident that the site possesses significant appeal for visitors.

Furthermore, he confirmed that the second phase of the gallery’s development plan has received approval from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The project is expected to be tendered in the near future, ahead of the commencement of construction.
