KUCHING: The Sarawak government remains committed to advancing the state’s development agenda to ensure the Bumiputera community continues to progress and contribute significantly to Sarawak and the nation.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said strong collaborations between government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), the private sector and business associations were vital in boosting Bumiputera achievements in the socio-economic sector.
“The Sarawak government has established the Special Committee of the Sarawak Bumiputera Economic Council, which serves to coordinate and monitor the planning and implementation of various Bumiputera development initiatives in the state.
“A different approach needs to be considered to meet unique needs in line with the existing legal provisions in Sarawak,” he said.
He said this when attending the Steering Committee Meeting of the Bumiputera Economic Council (MEB) No. 1/2024, held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Sept 8).
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and was also attended by senior ministry officials, corporate figures and academics.
