KUCHING: The Sarawak government has announced an additional public holiday in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, subject to the official date of 1 Syawal.
State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki said the state government has agreed to adopt and gazette the additional public holiday to facilitate the festive celebrations across Sarawak.
“If 1 Syawal falls on Friday, March 20, 2026 then Monday, March 23, 2026 will be declared an additional public holiday throughout Sarawak.
“Alternatively, if 1 Syawal falls on Saturday, March 21, 2026, then Friday, March 20, 2026 will be declared an additional public holiday,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the declaration is in addition to the public holidays already provided for under the First Schedule of the Public Holidays Ordinance.
