KUALA LUMPUR: The police have recorded statements from three individuals to assist in the investigation into an alleged plot to topple the government and sabotage national stability.
Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, said police will continue to call several other individuals to have their statements recorded as new information emerges.
“To date, we have recorded three statements from the individuals concerned. Investigations are ongoing and we will continue recording statements in the coming days,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman here today.
On whether the statement of the influential individual believed to have planned the alleged plot had been recorded, he said police have yet to do so.
He explained that the process so far has focused on recording statements from the complainant who lodged the police report and several other related parties.
Meanwhile, Khalid confirmed that investigations into the case so far are not linked to any other probe currently being conducted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He added that further detailed investigations are still required to determine whether there was any involvement or interference from foreign parties in the case. – BERNAMA
