TATAU: The Sarawak Government continues to place strong emphasis on education based on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) to nurture a highly skilled young generation capable of meeting the workforce demands in the state’s technical sectors.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said strengthening STEAM education is crucial to equip students with 21st-century skills in line with the advancements in automation, digitalisation and globalisation.
“STEAMify is not merely a carnival but a dynamic platform that gives students the opportunity to think, create and solve problems using knowledge from the STEAM fields,” he said during the closing aof the STEAMify Explorafest Carnival 2025 at SK Sungai Bagiau here recently.
He stressed that such programmes not only train students to think critically and creatively, but also develop their communication skills, essential not only to adapt to the working world but to lead in the future.
He added that this educational focus is vital to produce skilled talent needed in industrial areas such as Samalaju, Bintulu, in line with the state’s economic development agenda driven by knowledge and technology.
