KUCHING: Board Members of the Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) led by their President, Philip Yong recently called on the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Karim was happy to receive the visitors.

  STF is an umbrella organisation representing the united voices of the private sector tourism industry in Sarawak. Its component members include the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA – Sarawak chapter), Association of Hotels (MAH – Sarawak Chapter),  Sarawak Tourists Guide Association (SkTGA), Association of Sarawak lnbound Agencies (ASIA), Sarawak  Association of Tourism Attractions (SATA), Sarawak Restaurant Association (SRA) and Sarawak Handicraft and Souvenir Association (SHASA).

During the courtesy call, Yong briefed the Minister on the functions of STF and its activities covering the successful Digital Marketing Forum held on July 24, 2017.

The STF delegation also discussed some of the pertinent issues facing the tourism industry with the Minister.

At the end of the dialogue, Yong handed to Minister a short memorandum on tourism challenges experienced by the private sector, and also a report on the Forum

Karim was happy to have effective feedback and discussions with the tourism industry members on the transformation of Sarawak tourism.

He welcomed greater collaboration between the tourism partners and also the tourism related agencies to upgrade Sarawak destinations.
