KUCHING: Kuching City FC goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli says The Cats still have a route back into the FA Cup 2025–2026 semi-final when they face Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the return leg at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Nov 30.

Kuching City trail 2–1 after the first leg at Stadium Negeri, but Haziq believes the tie remains open with another 90 minutes to play.

In an interview with the Malaysian Football League (MFL), Haziq admitted the defeat in Kuching was disappointing but said he was encouraged by the squad’s discipline and effort.

“Even though we lost at home, I’m proud of the boys for staying focused. We fought until the final whistle, but the result didn’t go our way,” he said.

He added that the performance in the opening leg should give Kuching City confidence heading into the decisive clash in Johor.

Haziq hopes the team can deliver a steadier, more composed display while acknowledging JDT’s strong record at SSI.

“For the second leg at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, I hope the team can do better. We know JDT are stronger at home, but we’re not going there just to play out the match,” he said.

He also thanked supporters for their continued backing.

“To the fans, thank you for supporting us wherever we play. I hope the same support continues,” he said.
