KUCHING: A total of 11 civil servants completed the Capacity Development Programme (Advanced) for the Panel of Experts on Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) held from Apr 15 to 16.
Organised by the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU), the programme aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the seven key elements of Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA), a vital tool for evidence-based regulatory improvements.
The initiative forms part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory decision-making processes.
The GRP Panel of Experts plays a crucial role in coordinating projects under the Key Focus Activities (KFA) 2.0 initiative, which builds upon the original KFA initiative launched in 2010.
In 2023, the Sarawak government introduced the KFA 2.0 Circular, requiring all ministries and agencies under the Premier’s Department to submit at least one project annually focused on process and regulatory improvements.
This directive supports the government’s strategic objective of enhancing the Ease of Doing Business, as outlined in the state’s Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
During the programme, STIU director Superi Awang Said emphasised the government’s commitment to improving governance by focusing on efficiency, transparency, and high impact. He expressed confidence that continued investment in capacity development would empower the panel to drive effective regulatory reforms, aligning with the Sarawak government’s vision of fostering a high-performance and innovative administration.
