STM chips in RM8,000 for BCF

SIBU: Sports Toto Malaysia (STM) today (June 19) chipped in a sum of RM8,000 as sponsorship for the prestigious Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2025 which is due to be held from July 3 to 12 at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 1 and 2 here.

STM Sarawak assistant regional manager, Henry Liew handed over the fund to the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman, Cr Clarence Ting Ing Horth at the latter’s office.

Among those present to witness the presentation ceremony were STM Sibu area sales officer, Max Ching Chung Min and other SMC councillors.

According to Liew, this is the second consecutive year STM made the contribution.

Speaking to reporters after the presentation, Ting said he was happy with STM’s sponsorship. He hoped STM would continue to do so in future.

Among others, the festival will feature a wide array of signature traditional food from various races such as Chinese, Malay, Melanau and Dayak as well a variety of cultural performances from different races.

The festival will feature special performers from Delhi, India, West Java, Indonesia, who will also showcase their unique cultural heritage.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has been invited to officiate at the opening ceremony on July 4 while Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian is expected to officiate at the closing ceremony on July 12 as the guest of honour.
