SERIAN: One hundred needy senior citizens here received festive hampers and ang pow (monetary gifts in red packets) yesterday (Feb 1) as Sports Toto Malaysia (STM) Lottery Sdn Bhd continued its annual Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign.
The event brought festive cheer to underprivileged elderly residents in the community, with each person receiving an ang pow, a small festive hamper and mandarin oranges to wish them good health, prosperity and happiness for the Chinese New Year.
The event is part of STM Lottery’s nationwide outreach programme covering 50 cities and towns across Malaysia and is expected to benefit about 19,680 needy senior citizens.
STM Lottery has allocated about RM1.53 million for the campaign under its Helping Hands programme, one of its longest-running initiatives supporting vulnerable communities during the festive season.
By reaching out to underprivileged senior citizens who might otherwise be overlooked during celebrations, STM Lottery continues to play an active role in promoting social sustainability across the nation.
