KUCHING: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak has urged its members and the public not to speculate on the outcome of the negotiation between Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) regarding oil and gas matters.
Its president Datuk Richard Wee said as all are aware, the final outcome of the negotiation between the two oil and gas companies has not been formally announced.
“Let us give our full support and trust to our government led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and leave it to their wisdom to obtain an amicable solution,” he said.
He said this during the Federation of Chinese Associations of Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian Divisions’ Chinese New Year Dinner Reception held at Imperial Hotel here last night (Feb 12).
On the matter, Wee assured that the Chinese community is giving their unwavering and unequivocal support to the Premier and the Sarawak government.
“We have your back, sir, to fight for what is deservedly the interest and rights of Sarawak,” he said.
On a related note, he said the federation will continue to serve as a bridge between the Chinese community and the government, and strive to achieve mutual trust and respect, and shared benefits in the society and communities.
“As always, we will provide our unwavering support for the positive, fair, inclusive and far-sighted policies of the Premier and Sarawak government.
“We believe that as long as we uphold benevolent governance and serve our people with empathy and compassion, Sarawak’s future will undoubtedly be even more prosperous and successful,” said Wee.
