Civilians told to give priority to help or save those in trouble
KUCHING: Instead of taking videos, the public have been urged to put away their cellphones and help those in trouble.
State Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman spoke to the media here yesterday regarding the habit of civilians taking videos instead of helping.

Khirudin pointed out that whenever an awareness programme was organised, the public pretended to know everything about the said matter but when a real life crisis happened, they panicked and did not know how to handle the situation.
“If the public do not change their ways, then when are they going to do so? Every second wasted taking videos and sharing it online will not save a life.
“Therefore, we strongly encourage the public to be always aware that as a person, we have our responsibility to help those who are in need,” he stated.
