KUCHING: The Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid initiative will continue into 2025 to support eligible low- and middle-income Malaysians in managing the rising cost of living and essential goods.
Through targeted subsidy reforms, the government is able to increase STR disbursements, underscoring its commitment to supporting underprivileged households across all races, religions, and political affiliations.
“In line with this, the Ministry of Finance, in strategic collaboration with Perbendaharaan Malaysia Sarawak (PMSarawak), Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), the Sarawak state government, and other relevant agencies, will open cash payment counters for STR 2025 recipients in Sarawak’s interior who do not have bank accounts,” said the Department of Information (JAPEN) in a statement on Tuesday (June 11).
Registered recipients or their representatives must attend the distribution event on the date specified in their invitation letter or verify the schedule at the nearest district or sub-district office to ensure smooth operations and prevent congestion.
Cash payout hours are from 8.30am to 4.30pm, except at Kampung Semop Hall on June 29, the Lingga Office, and Long Bedian Hall, where distribution will end at 2pm. Priority lanes and counters will be provided for senior citizens aged 60 and above.
Recipients must bring their original MyKad, MyKid, or birth certificate for identity verification during collection.
Those unable to attend on their scheduled date may collect their STR cash aid at any BSN branch between Aug 3 and Dec 31. Note that STR collection at BSN branches will be suspended from June 21 to Aug 2, during the mobile payout period.
