SARATOK: The strong partnership between the federal and Sarawak governments is important in resolving issues and delivering meaningful outcomes for the people, says Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He stressed that the collaboration between the federal government and the state administration under the MADANI coalition and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) respectively is not only solid but driven by a shared determination to prioritise the people’s interests over politics.

“No matter how heavy the request, we will strive to fulfil it for the sake of the rakyat,” he said.

He said this during the ground-breaking ceremony for the Kampung Kupang-Jalan Bajau junction road project at Rumah Rengan, Selambong, here today.

Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), also acknowledged the close personal ties between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The Premier and the Prime Minister share a very close bond. With that kind of relationship, there is no issue that cannot be resolved.

“Even if it concerns the PETRONAS-PETROS matter. There is no need to worry,” he assured.

At the same time, he reminded the people not to be influenced by persistent negativity on social media.

“Let us not get caught up in social media, which is never satisfied with anything the state government does, or anything done by the federal government.

“That’s just how it is on a long journey, we’ll always see that 22 per cent … that 22 per cent who are never satisfied with us,” he said.

He then thanked the commitment of his Deputy Minister, Datuk Rubiah Wang, who is a Sarawakian and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Samarahan.

“I am lucky to have her by my side. She always reminds me of the importance of strong federal-state cooperation not for political gains, but for the collective good of the people,” he said.
