KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) organised a blood donation drive today (Feb 22), bringing Sarawakians together in a strong display of unity and generosity.
Held in collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank, Aeroville Mall, and the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA), the event saw 88 donors stepping forward to contribute.
The strong turnout was a welcome sight for newly appointed UNIFOR director Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau.
“As the new UNIFOR director, this is my first blood donation drive with UNIFOR, and I was a bit concerned that we might not have enough donors.
“But seeing the spectacular turnout today from people of all walks of life deeply touched me.
“The overwhelming response shows how much people understand the importance of blood donation, as it is a crucial part of an effective healthcare system,” she said.
She emphasised the vital role of blood donation in healthcare, calling it one of the most valuable gifts a person can give.
“Donating blood is very valuable and the most precious gift you can give to others. We may be of different races and religions, but at the end of the day, all of our blood is red,” she added.
This initiative is part of UNIFOR’s ongoing community outreach efforts, with another blood donation drive planned for July 26.
Beyond replenishing much-needed blood supplies, the event reflected the spirit of togetherness and compassion, proving that when people unite for a common cause, they not only save lives but also strengthen their community bonds.
