MIRI: Strong winds tore the roof off a fishermen’s storage shed at Tamu Ikan in Kampung Batu 1, Jalan Kuala Baram, on Sunday morning, causing damage estimated at around RM30,000.
The Lutong Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 8:22 am and dispatched a team within minutes.
Firefighters arrived at the scene by 8:33 am, where they found that the roof of the wooden structure had been ripped away by sudden gusts.
No injuries were reported in the incident.

“The shed, used for storing fishing boats, suffered severe roof damage due to the strong winds. Our team carried out inspection and monitoring to ensure the area was safe,” said Lutong Fire and Rescue Station’s chief, Henry Jugah.
The 10-kilometre response involved one fire engine and six personnel, including the operation commander, Iskandar Aus, and his crew.
The incident ended swiftly, with firefighters wrapping up operations at 8:45 am before returning to base.
Residents said the sudden gusts caught many by surprise, though damage was contained to the shed.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious as unpredictable weather continues to affect coastal areas.
