MIRI: It’s quite a busy day for personnel of the Batu Niah fire station after strong winds caused a huge tree to fall in Kampung Bekenu Lama here yesterday (July 20).
According to a statement from the state Fire and Rescue Department, five firefighters were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 5.34pm from one of the villagers.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found a tree had fallen and blocked the road.
They used two chain saws to cut the tree into sections and then clear the road.
The operation started at 6.33pm and ended an hour later.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
