KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng urged stronger coordination, clear communication and prompt action among stakeholders to sustain growth and competitiveness at Sama Jaya Industrial Park.
He made the call during the Sama Jaya Industrial Park Management Committee Meeting 1/2025, held on Monday (Dec 15), involving government agencies and industrial players supporting park operations.
“As a key industrial park in Sarawak, how we manage Sama Jaya directly affects investor confidence. Effective coordination and timely follow-up are essential,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment of Sarawak (MINTRED) for organising the meeting together with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation.
He highlighted the importance of the Industrial Park Management Committee in addressing operational issues and coordinating inter-agency actions affecting Sama Jaya Industrial Park.
According to Wee, Sama Jaya Industrial Park plays a critical role in Sarawak’s industrial ecosystem and contributes significantly to economic development and investor confidence.
“The industrial park currently provides employment to more than 15,000 workers, with 99 per cent comprising local Sarawakians.
“This strong local workforce presence underscores Sama Jaya Industrial Park’s importance as a major contributor to Sarawak’s economy and employment landscape,” he said.
He also encouraged industrial players to actively utilise the Sama Jaya IPMC WhatsApp group for faster communication and quicker responses from relevant agencies.
“I urge all stakeholders to continue working closely to ensure Sama Jaya Industrial Park remains competitive, well-managed and sustainable over the long term.”
The meeting was attended by Sarawak Electronics and Electrical Industries Association President Chok Siong See and representatives from MINTRED.
