KUCHING: President of Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) Macky Joseph said STU supports the state government’s call in urging the State Education Department to write to the Education Ministry to continue supplying diesel to the 21 rural mission schools in the state.
“Sufficient supply does contribute to a better teaching and learning process.
“The classes in such schools should not be interrupted,” he said when contacted yesterday.
He added STU is happy and welcomes the move if the state government is able to step in and could link and connect the schools to the state power grid before March.
“Nevertheless, STU has been adamant all this while against the use of generators because it is very troublesome especially when it comes to maintenance and diesel supply,” he pointed out.
