HO CHI MINH CITY: SK Datuk Mohamad Musa Kota Samarahan secured a gold and a silver medal at the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) 2025, held here from Apr 25 to 27.
Arissa Mohd Farid clinched the gold in the Innovation Award category with her project, Automated Book Organiser (ABO), a smart system designed to organise school textbooks according to students’ daily schedules. She was mentored by Mohd Ariffin Madon.
Meanwhile, siblings Haris Haidar Hishamuddin and Haziq Haidar Hishamuddin earned the silver medal with their app, Budaya 2.0: Borneo Unique Discovery for Young Adventurers 2.0, an interactive platform promoting Borneo’s cultural heritage. Their project was guided by Hazilah Rashid.
ICIA 2025 featured more than 180 innovations from 26 countries, involving 395 finalists and 64 strategic international partners.
Throughout the event, participants attended workshops, presentations, and idea exchange sessions aimed at enhancing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The school’s success was also supported by the presence of Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) representatives Hishamuddin Siri and Hafizan Mohamad Naim, who accompanied and encouraged the students.
Headmaster Issnu Dollah said the achievement reflected the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering globally minded, skilled students capable of creating sustainable innovations.
“The achievement highlights the school’s emphasis on innovation and excellence, as well as the strength of collaboration among teachers, parents and the broader community, in line with the aspirations of the Samarahan District Parents, Community, and Private Sector Association (PIBKS),” he said.
ICIA 2025 served as a platform for young talents to present ideas, build global citizenship values, and contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The school hopes its success will inspire more students to pursue innovation and bring honour to Sarawak and Malaysia internationally.
