SEBUYAU: Students in Sarawak are urged to seize educational opportunities offered by the state government through the Sarawak Foundation.
Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, who represented Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said the foundation continues to play a key role in supporting students to further their studies locally and abroad.
“The state government through the Sarawak Foundation always opens doors for rural students to pursue their studies locally or abroad. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Sarawak’s human capital,” he said.
He was speaking when officiating the Sebuyau District Education Expo 2025 at the Sebuyau Development Hall here yesterday (Aug 16).
The event was held in conjunction with the statewide Sarawak Education Expo 2025, which was launched simultaneously across 30 District Education Offices, including Sebuyau for the Simunjan district.
Aidel also presented awards to outstanding SPM and STPM students of 2024, with two top SPM students receiving certificates of appreciation and RM500 premium savings each, and 10 top STPM students receiving certificates of appreciation and RM700 premium savings each.
The Sarawak Foundation also contributed RM230,400 to the Simunjan District Education Office for school uniform assistance, and RM50,400 to support educational programmes in the district.
The expo featured motivational talks on career development, talks on sponsorship opportunities from the Sarawak Foundation, and information sessions on pursuing further studies locally and abroad.
Students were also introduced to scholarships and educational sponsorships offered by the Sarawak Foundation.
