KUCHING: The much-anticipated Suara 2.0 is set to return, marking the second edition of the pioneering youth engagement programme that first debuted successfully in January 2022.

Designed to inspire and empower Sarawakian youth, Suara provides a vital platform for young people to play an active role in shaping the future of the State.

Short for “Strength Through Unity, Alliance and Responsive Action”, Suara is a youth-centred initiative that focuses on strengthening unity, promoting inclusivity, and nurturing the next generation of changemakers.

Building on the impact of its inaugural programme, Suara 2.0 will continue to encourage critical thinking, foster meaningful dialogue on key State agendas, and prepare youth to engage with civic responsibilities.

Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS), the driving force behind the initiative, is committed to ensuring that youth from diverse ethnic, religious, and geographical backgrounds are meaningfully engaged in discussions about Sarawak’s development.

“Suara 2.0 continues our commitment to providing Sarawakian youth with a structured platform to share their aspirations, engage in critical discourse, and champion inclusive development,” said a YPS representative.

“By connecting young minds to key state policies and encouraging constructive dialogue, we hope to foster a generation that is both informed and inspired to act.

“This four-day interactive workshop in Kuching will gather 50 participants from across the state. They will take part in expert-led sessions, simulations, group dialogues, and mini debates to explore pressing issues such as the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), and civic engagement.

“The programme’s line-up promises a dynamic mix of knowledge sharing and interactive activities. It will open with a panel discussion on MA63, providing historical context and examining its impact on Sarawak’s autonomy and growth.”

Subsequent focus sessions will highlight the aspirations of PCDS 2030, while activities such as critical thinking exercises and teamwork challenges will sharpen participants’ problem-solving skills.

Mini debate sessions will also allow participants to argue for or against real issues discussed earlier, culminating in a closing dialogue session that reaffirms the role of youth as contributors to Sarawak’s progress.

Suara 2.0 builds on this foundation with sharper emphasis on civic empowerment and collaborative problem-solving.

Registration for Suara 2.0 opens on Sept 29 and runs until Oct 31. Those interested can contact OB Research, the appointed project consultant, at 013-708 2534 (Hanim) or 019-944 2159 (Admin), or email dayangathirah@owlandbadger.com or admin@owlandbadger.com.
