SIBU: About 120 children, parents and guests joined the Sukun Area Unity Kindergarten’s Gala Night, organised by three of its classes, at a hotel here recently.

Sibu Division National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) officer, Jendri Mangku, said the programme was organised specifically to celebrate six-year-old children who will be entering Year One in the coming school session.

“It is in kindergarten that they learn their first letters, their first friends and their first courage to be independent.

“Congratulations to all the six-year-old children who successfully completed their learning sessions,” she said during the event.

According to her, the children of Tabika Perpaduan not only completed their basic learning, but also built self-confidence, character and a spirit of unity which are important for their holistic development.

Meanwhile, Jendri also expressed her appreciation to the parents and guardians for their continued support of the kindergarten and JPNIN’s programmes.

“Your presence, cooperation and involvement really help to ensure that each programme can be implemented smoothly,” she said.

The ceremony also honoured teacher Mariana, who will be relocating to a new post in Mukah.

Jendri expressed her appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the teacher throughout her service at Tabika Perpaduan.

“Cikgu Mariana has done a lot, not only as an educator but also as a guide, caregiver and main supporter of our children’s development,” she said.

Also in attendance were Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) Sibu Division officer Jelani Ajang; Mohamad Noridzwan Sawi, head of the Early Childhood Education Unit of JPNIN Sibu; and Nur Zahra Qhalleysa, chairperson of the Programme Management.
