KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) has pledged its full support to the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties as preparations intensify for the 13th Sarawak State Election (PRN13).
SUPP said it firmly and unequivocally supports the leadership of the Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and fully backs his strategic blueprint for Sarawak’s rapid development.
“We also urge the government to enhance national strategies to combat misinformation, disinformation and the harmful effects of social media echo chambers, in order to safeguard social harmony, democratic values and national stability,” it said.
This was outlined in the resolutions and motions of the party’s resolutions, which were passed during its 2025 Annual Delegates’ Conference at the SUPP headquarters here today.
SUPP further called on the Ministry of Education (MOE) to formally recognise mental resilience as a fundamental component of student wellbeing, proposing that mental health education and emotional resilience programmes be integrated into the national education system.
The party also proposed that the Sarawak Government introduce a Sarawak Elderly Welfare Scheme by providing annual assistance of RM1,000 to senior citizens, aged 65 and above, aimed at enhancing their quality of life and social protection.
Reaffirming its commitment to GPS’ ‘Sarawak First’ principles, SUPP emphasised the importance of strong, united and locally based political parties and close cooperation among GPS components to safeguard Sarawak’s rights and ensure continued political stability.
“We also commit to working collectively to safeguard Sarawak’s rights and protect the well-being of all Sarawakians,” it said.
SUPP also urged the Sarawak Government to allow all Sarawakian senior citizens to be qualified for assistance under the Senior Citizens Health Benefit (SCHB) Scheme.
