KUCHING: A free E-Invoice Seminar will be held on May 18 at the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Headquarters, aimed at equipping local businesses with essential knowledge to navigate Malaysia’s ongoing digital transformation in taxation.
The seminar is the second one to be organised by the Youth Section of SUPP Batu Kitang Third Mile Sub-Branch, with support from LYA Group.
Batu Kitang assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, described the initiative as timely and people-focused during a press conference at SUPP Headquarters today.
“We are living in a time of transition,” he said.
“Our government is implementing e-invoicing as part of a national effort to modernise tax systems and improve transparency. But for many small business owners, digital change can feel overwhelming or even scary.”
He noted that e-invoicing is being adopted by governments worldwide, adding that it benefits both the government and the business community.
“I am proud of this initiative. It is people-oriented. It is about making sure that our people are not left behind in this digital transformation,” he said.
According to Lo, the seminar will offer hands-on guidance to help local business owners avoid unnecessary confusion or penalties when implementing the new system.

“While the details may seem complicated at first, once understood, the system allows users to issue invoices instantly via the Internet with no paper required,” he explained.
“Customers receive invoices in real-time and can make payments digitally. It saves time, reduces errors, and improves efficiency.”
He encouraged more business owners to attend the seminar and embrace the opportunity to grow and modernise.
“Our business owners will be able to thrive through this transformation,” he said.
Lo also said the event would serve as a platform for entrepreneurs from various backgrounds to connect and share insights.
